Eavestrough and gutter installation

Eavestrough & Gutter Installation, Replacement & Repair

Eavestroughs — also known as gutters — are your home's primary defence against water damage. They collect rainwater and snowmelt from your roof and channel it away from your foundation, preventing erosion, basement flooding, and structural deterioration that can cost tens of thousands of dollars to repair.

At Top Choice Roofing and Siding, we install custom-fitted aluminum eavestroughs across the Greater Toronto Area. Our seamless eavestrough systems are fabricated on site to exact measurements, eliminating the joints that cause leaks in sectional gutters. We also install downspouts, splash pads, underground drainage extensions, and gutter guard systems to maximize performance and minimize maintenance.

Whether you're replacing aging or damaged eavestroughs, upgrading from sectional to seamless, or adding eavestroughs to a new build, our experienced crew delivers a clean, properly pitched installation that drains efficiently and stands up to Ontario's heavy rain and ice conditions.

Protecting Your Home From the Ground Up

Properly installed eavestroughs are one of the most cost-effective ways to protect your home's long-term structure and value.

🏠

Protects Foundation

Directing water away from your home's perimeter prevents soil saturation and hydrostatic pressure against your foundation walls — one of the leading causes of foundation cracking.

💧

Prevents Basement Flooding

Overflowing or absent eavestroughs allow roof runoff to pool against your foundation, where it finds its way through even small cracks into your basement. Proper drainage is your first line of defence.

🌁

Roof Edge Protection

Eavestroughs prevent water from running down your fascia and siding, reducing moisture damage, rot, and staining along the roofline and exterior walls.

🔨

Custom Sizes Available

We offer 4", 5", and 6" eavestrough profiles — fabricated on site to fit your roofline exactly. Larger profiles handle greater volume on steep or wide roof surfaces.

Seamless Options

Seamless eavestroughs have no joints along their length — only at corners and downspout connections — dramatically reducing the chance of leaks and improving long-term performance.

🌟

Low Maintenance

Aluminum eavestroughs won't rust, rot, or require painting. Combined with gutter guards, they require minimal cleaning and provide years of reliable, trouble-free performance.

Eavestrough FAQs

Answers to the questions we hear most often about eavestrough installation and replacement.

Eavestroughs and gutters refer to the same thing — the channel that collects water from the roof edge and directs it toward downspouts. "Eavestroughs" is the term most commonly used in Canada, while "gutters" is more common in the United States. We use both terms interchangeably.
Seamless eavestroughs are fabricated from a single continuous piece of aluminum, cut to your home's exact measurements on site. Unlike sectional gutters (which come in pre-cut lengths joined together), seamless gutters have no seams along their run — only at corners and downspout connections. This dramatically reduces leak points and is the standard we install on all residential projects.
Most homes benefit from cleaning eavestroughs twice per year — once in late spring after tree seeds and debris settle, and once in late fall after leaves have dropped. Homes with overhanging trees may need cleaning more frequently. Gutter guard systems can significantly reduce how often cleaning is required.
The right size depends on your roof's pitch and the square footage it drains. For most residential homes in the GTA, 5" K-style eavestroughs are the standard. Steeper or larger roofs may benefit from 6" profiles that handle higher water volume. We assess your roofline and recommend the appropriate size when we provide your estimate.
Quality aluminum eavestroughs typically last 20–30 years when properly installed and maintained. Aluminum won't rust or rot, handles freeze-thaw cycling well, and requires no painting. Regular cleaning to prevent debris buildup is the most important maintenance step to maximize their lifespan.
